I started sewing at the age of 8. The first dress I sewed was for my Barbie Doll. I had just finished watching Sleeping Beauty. Oh! how I longed to make her that beautiful blue dress that Aurora wears in the Disney version. So I used scraps of blue satin fabric that my mother used to make my Halloween costume with. I didnt know how to sew, so I used hot glue and cut the pieces of fabric out to make a dress. My hands were blistered from the hot glue and the dress was a disaster. I was really unhappy with myself. That night, I asked my mother to show me how to sew by hand.
I didnt really discover my talents until the end of my high school years. I made sequined bras and sequined skirts to match, just so I could look cute at the night club. Then eventually I decided to take it to the next level and decided to make my very own Cinderella Gown from scratch. I had no clue how to make a pattern, nor where to begin, but some how the dress came out gorgeous.
About a year later I decided to go to FIDM in Los Angeles. My dream was to design and become a better sewer. I adapted their way, and soon enough I was able to create anything from a pattern and sew professionally. From that point on, dress's were no longer hot glued or made without a pattern again.
All my costumes are made of high quality materials. I am a very picky sewer. All trims, buckles, hand sewn details must be accurate and done right or I am not happy.
If you have any special request, please, please ask. I am always happy to add new designs to my collection of costumes. I have done period costumes from the Renaissance Era, French Hoods, Victorian ball gowns, Custom Made hats made from all sorts of materials. I have also made many items that are not listed here on ETSY. I lost some really great photos of the Mary Poppins Jolly Holliday Umbrella and Hat. I have also made Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Jessica Rabbit.
I am also currently renting out costumes at www.petiteleon.com
